What You Need to Know Before You Buy Your Dog a Metal Cage

Buying a cage for your dog can be a real trick, if you don’t know what it is you need.  Over buying is a bad idea, and under buying isn’t going to work well for you either so as the adage goes, buy once and buy right, you will save yourself a ton of heartache in the process with stuff that doesn’t work.  A large metal dog cage is not the best idea for everyone, so learn about your dog’s specific needs before you buy.

Large Breed Dogs

Large dogs, it stands to reason, should have a large metal dog cage, and for safety, should be locked up in it when you are not home.  These can aid in housetraining, as well as keep your pet safe while he or she is unsupervised.  they should always have access to water in the cage, especially in hot weather,  but I advise against food being in there, as it will encourage him to defecate in the cage and also you will be unable to see him eat, it really helps to watch your dogs eat as you can judge whether they are unwell or even just happy in them self.

Small and Medium Breed Dogs

These dogs should never be put in a large metal dog cage, instead purchase them a cage specific to the needs of their size.  Smaller dogs put in a large crate will cause problems, they are likely to urinate or defecate in the larger cage, and these are not made for little guys so they can do things like get their paws stuck in the corners of a large metal dog cage, they really do need a smaller one.  Toys are especially prone to this, and a pinched paw is going to make no one happy, particularly if you have left for work and will not return for several hours.
